We are pleased to introduce the Haliwards, a community awards project in the Halifax Regional Municipality entering its third year. Throughout HRM there are people who strive to make their community just that little bit better. It’s the person who gives their time to raise money for charity; the mother who has sacrificed her life to care for a sick child; the person who has stood up for what they believe in, just because it felt right; or the person who has done everything they could to make your life just that little bit easier. These are the people who make up what we know as a community today. Our aim is to give the people of HRM a chance to offer their thanks to individuals or groups for the extraordinary things they do, whatever that may be. Our awards have no boundaries – that’s what makes us unique. In everyone’s life there is someone who’s extraordinary, so nominate them for a Haliward and give them a memory and a memento to treasure for a lifetime.
